Books:
- I started listening to Big Swiss. It's wonderfully weird and I love getting to know all the characters.
- Also reading Orbital. Beautiful language and descriptions (albeit sometimes kind of forced and overwrought) but not much is happening (yet?). I don't know if I'm up for a literary novel at the moment... will see how things go.
- Also have a couple of books by T. Kingfisher waiting for their turn (once I'm done with Orbital).
- I recently listened to The September House. Overall, I liked it, but at one point it got a bit too bloody and gory, and I wished I was actually reading a physical book so that I could skip to the next page.
- (it's more complicated with an audio book - I need to stop whatever else I'm doing, find my phone, open the app, skip forward, etc, etc)
- (when I listen to an audio book while doing nothing, like lying in bed in the evening, I fall asleep and miss multiple chapters. It's a pain and takes me forever to figure out how far back I need to go...)
Movies:
- I really want to see Flow!!! Preferably, in the movie theater.
- The kids and I are still watching White Collar - we are almost done with season 5. Husband has been joining us - he likes that show.
- E and I will probably watch Reacher season 3 at some point.
- E has been watching Bosch and he really likes the show - I am not in the mood for it... E has also been listening to Michael Connelly's audiobooks.
- I watched River - liked it.
Music:
- C and I will be going to see Schumann's cello concerto in a couple of weeks.
- E had a school concert - he did well (played a solo piece by Bach that he learned by himself) - but my other favorite performance was a sax quartet (soprano, alto, baritone, bass). Those kids were amazing!
Mood:
- Tired, stressed, sad.
- I've seen a lot of articles and posts about the pandemic - I can't believe it's been 5 years...
- In many ways, the situation now feels more stressful and dangerous. And hopeless.
I like this roundup - I only track books. But it's kind of cool to look back and see what you were taking in during a certain time period. (P.S. Big Swiss was so much fun.)
ReplyDeleteYep - I like looking through old posts to see what I've been watching and reading and how that's been changing through the years.
DeleteBig Swiss - I got the title from your blog :)
